Who are Jack and Ginger? My, my you should certainly be in the know! They are the young, stylish and beautiful couple who run 'Jukebox Alarm' at the rock riot venue that is Bethnal Green Working Men's Club.
What are their nights like? Expect everything from the hottest new London and European bands a la Twisted Charm, Theoretical Girl and Noblesse Oblige to country folk bands like Ralfe band. Also in between chomping on great tunes from live acts, hear the musical delights of The Doors, Iggy Pop, The Raveonettes and everything else that is old, new and good in rock music. "We organise our nights according to our moods," Ginger says. "Like sometimes we really want to hear electronic bands, sometimes just pure rock..it's lots of fun!"
Who goes there? People who love dressing up, people who love dressing down and seriously everything that's in between. Londoners under 35 who don't mind adorning 1940s vintage dresses whilst hoe-downing/country line dancing. Ginger is the queen bee of the fashion stakes and looks extraordinarily spectacular in her one-off vintage dresses some of which she designs herself. "I love Pippi Longstocking and Coco Chanel and everything that fits in between."
What would life be like if Jack and Ginger ruled the world? It would be a remarkable place where 19th century pauper boys wearing flat caps could happily live ever after with the 80s disco girls they fell in love with across the dancefloor whilst Jack and Ginger played The Smiths. Or in the words of Jack: "the pubs would never shut!"
Jack and Ginger's Jukebox Alarm is the last Saturday of every month at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, 42 Pollard Row from 9pm-2am. For more info: www.myspace.com/jack_and_ginger
